Rdio Announces Joint Partnership And Strategic Partnership In Brazil With Grupo Bandeirantes
SAN FRANCISCO (April 16, 2014) – Rdio and Grupo Bandeirantes have announced a Joint Venture and powerful strategic partnership encompassing marketing, distribution, content and promotions that will significantly expand Rdio’s presence in Brazil. This combination of the award-winning Rdio music service with the creativity, power and reach of Grupo Bandeirantes provides music fans in Brazil with the best of both a global and Brazilian digital music service and experience.
Brazil is Rdio’s third largest market and one of its fastest growing. This announcement is the latest in a series of similar strategic local partnerships around the world, designed to create a richer and localized experience that accelerates new user registrations, active listeners and subscribers for Rdio, one of the world’s leading music streaming services.
“As we have said publicly before, global expansion and localized customer experiences are key focuses for Rdio. Brazil is one of the most dynamic countries in the world with a vibrant music culture. In fact, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are among the top cities for Rdio users in the world,” said Anthony Bay, CEO of Rdio. “We’ve had success in establishing a unique customer value proposition with our partners in other territories, and this partnership allows us to create a more diverse, all-encompassing listening experience in Brazil that travels from radio to TV to online to mobile.”
Antonino Ruggiero, Vice President for Business Subscription of Grupo Bandeirantes added, “This partnership is a major innovation in music distribution in Brazil. Streaming is a reality that is revolutionizing the way we listen to and share music.”
Under this deal, Grupo Bandeirantes’ various properties will expand their digital music presence using the Rdio platform, and will develop content promotions that cross from on-air radio to streaming. The alliance will also involve media support for Rdio from Metro Newspapers, through an on-going integration with Band.com.br, media placement in out-of-home properties and across Grupo affiliated TV programs.
With Rdio, music fans can access a massive catalog of over 25 million songs or start a custom internet radio station based on a song, album, playlist or another person. New users in Brazil can download the Rdio application and sign up on their smartphone or at rdio.com and start listening instantly. Rdio offers three types of subscriptions: R$8,99 for web access (browser or desktop app), R$14,90 for the unlimited plan (unlimited streaming and web access on mobile devices, with offline syncing) and R$26,90 for the family plan (two unlimited subscriptions).
Rdio is the groundbreaking digital music service that is reinventing the way people discover, play, and share music. Listen anywhere — the web, your phone, even offline — and follow friends and artists to see what they’re suggesting or listening to.
